August Pest Control Outlook
August is a busy month for pest control services, and this blog focuses on what you can expect from pests this summer.
Wildlife
Bigger mammals are an issue this time of year because many still have young tags along with them on foraging expeditions. Raccoons, skunks, and possum are three examples of wildlife that you may encounter with young. Never approach them, the mothers will defend their babies, which can mean severe bites and wounds to humans and pets.
Rodents
The rodent population is busy reproducing at the speed of light, and that means many rodents will come looking for nesting sites later in the fall. Home infestations by mice and rats are common in August as the rodents and other critters are looking for convenient sources of water and food. Your house offers both.
Bed Bugs
Summer is the most traveled season, and anytime you travel, you are at risk for picking up bed bugs. These disgusting pests feed on human blood, and you find them wherever human populations exist. Hotels, Motels, B&Bs, hostels, and other places where humans sleep are likely spots where you may find bed bugs. A bed bug infestation is a miserable existence, and they can be costly to eradicate
Ants
Ants continue to be a royal pain, and this summer is an exceptional year for ants. Expect crazy ants, pharaoh ants, and even fire ants and tiny Argentine ants to be exceptionally bold and hungry. Many ant invasions are more about finding water and indoors is a perfect place to find water during the summer.
