Fall Indoor Pest Control
Fall is undoubtedly one of the most active times of the year for indoor pest issues. It is generally the time of year when insect populations are at their highest, and when rodents start looking for the best indoor habitat. Keep reading as we discuss indoor fall pests and pest control services.
There are so many ants around Bryan, Texas, that ants remain one of the top pest control calls we handle. Pharaoh ants, crazy ants, fire ants, harvester ants, and so many others continue to invade homes looking for food and sometimes water. Ant control is complex, and the goal should always be to destroy the colony, not just the in-home infestation. We use a systematic approach to ant control. So, once the ants are gone, they stay gone.
One of the most destructive of pests are mice, rats, and squirrels. Each fall, homes and businesses are infested by rodents – mostly mice but rats and squirrels. Mice cause a lot of damage with the messes they make. They breed quickly and can overrun a home in just a few months. Mice also destroy food stores. Rats and squirrels do physical damage by chewing wood. Squirrels looking for nesting sites can do thousands of dollars worth of damage to a home or roof in a short amount of time. Rat and mouse control is ongoing, and we offer a monthly service program that helps control mice and rats before they get out of control. Squirrels are generally a fall or winter issue.
Other Fall Pests Include Wasps, Snakes, and Cockroaches.
Late season wasp nests are common. The hives split when they get too large, and new queens will fly off and form a new colony. It is not uncommon to find wasp nests around the yard or even in outbuildings.
Snakes are also a common problem, though most snakes are not a threat. The late, warm weather this fall means snakes might be out longer before denning to hibernate. Be one the lookout for snakes, especially on warmer days.
