Pests That Keep You Up At Night
You know the feeling of being roused out of a sound sleep by something in your house. What could it be? If it sounds like 15 teenagers on your roof, it is probably just a roof rabbit or two. So here is our list of pests that are loud at night.
1 Roof Rabbits
Roof rabbits are not rabbits, but instead are rats that run through the subflooring of your attic or in your attic. They bang around, know things off, and squeal, fight and raise the roof.
2 Raccoons
If you have ever heard a raccoon fight, you will never sleep again. The noise is intense and frightening. It sounds like something large and obnoxious is about to come through the floor.
In the winter, momma raccoons do a lot of snarling and fighting, protecting their young.
3 Birds
Your pets will drive you crazy if you have birds in the wall. Birds make soft noises, scratching sounds, and may peep late at night or early in the morning. In the spring, when they nest and raise young, the sound becomes much louder. If your cat stares at the wall all day, there is a good chance there is a bird or mouse nest in the wall.
4 Rodents
Besides roof rabbits, rodents like mice are noisy. They knock things off shelves in the kitchen; you can hear them squealing and running around. Mice and rats are two examples of rodents that will keep you up at night.
Squirrels are also rodents, and should you get one that nests in the walls or the attic, they too will create noise. By far, rodents are one of the loudest groups of pests you can have.
