The Odd Winter Pest
We don’t usually see snakes or scorpions during the winter. That is because both are heat-loving creatures. However, it is possible to come into contact with either. The temperatures are still hitting the 70’s, and that is warm enough for both snakes and scorpions to be active. It is not likely, but it does happen.
The Rain and Snakes
The rain can flush snakes and scorpions out of the dens and force them to try to find new housing. That is one reason why you might encounter a snake or scorpion in January. Because it is winter, both of these pests need to find new shelter quickly, so they are not too picky about wondering into a garage or home if the door is open.
They Were Already There
Many times, especially with scorpions, we move a box in the garage and discover that there is one or more living under it. It is rarer to find a snake in your garage, but that also happens. Usually, we find snakes under buildings rather than in them. On sunny days the concrete warms and then acts as a radiator heater. Snakes are attracted to heat and have heat sensors in their faces.
What Do You Do about Snake and Scorpions?
