Wood Destroying Insect Reports
In 2020, the housing market created a $1 billion industry for home and property sales. That means a lot of WDI reports. Every home sale requires a wood-destroying insect report, and you can set up appointments for those right here with us.
What is a WDI Report?
A WDI report is a comprehensive document that includes a pest inspection that looks for the presence of wood-destroying insects. It also looks at past damage and repairs. So, if you are selling a house, a WDI report will tell potential buyers:
- If there is wood damage caused by insects.
- If wood-destroying insects are present
- What type of wood-destroying insects are present
- If there had been wood damage and the condition of the repairs
- If there is damage that has not been repair
Wood-Destroying Insects
The list of wood-destroying insects includes many common insects, from beetles to termites. These are insects that chew wood for one reason or another. They include:
- Termites — Termites eat wood and are quite fond of the wooden foundation pieces and thicker support timbers in floors, walls, and rafters.
- Carpenter Ants — These larger ants do not eat wood, but they chew galleries inside larger pieces of wood, including 2×4’s to create living space. The larger the colony of carpenter ants, the more damage they do.
- Carpenter Bees — Like carpenter ants, carpenter bees do not eat wood. They, too, chew wood to excavate nests in which they raise their young. These pests are well-known as insects that destroy wooden decks, fences, rafters, and siding on homes.
- Wood-Boring Beetles — A large grouping of beetle species destroy wood. They can also destroy living trees and may be imported to new homes or remodel projects in the lumber.
