Outdoor Pests and Pest Control
Warmer weather means outdoor living, but when we head outdoors, we often meet pests. One of the most common pests is wasps. No BBQ is complete without a wasp to make people nervous. The truth is many outdoor pests invite themselves to outdoor living events, even if that event is to lie quietly by the pool.
The Most Common Outdoor Pests
On the top of that list is the mosquito. It is the perfect intruder during quiet times. While their bites are itchy and they can transmit diseases, they are not the most frightful visitor. Nothing strikes fear into people quite as much as greenheads. Biting flies are a true pest. If you have ever been to the beach when people are having fun and then suddenly they are packing up and heading home, then you’ve met the biting flies.
House flies also are an outdoor pest, especially if there is food involved. They are very disgusting. They puke up their last meal every time they land. If they land on your plate, they leave you a present. They can also spread disease.
Fleas are another common outdoor pest. During certain times of the year, your lawn is likely crawling with fleas. While not related, ticks are yet one more pest that can ruin and outdoor adventure.
Pests That Are Not So Common But Still Present
Snakes sometimes make their way into yards and, while do not often invade a party, may already be there when you arrive.
Spiders are pretty common indoors and outdoors but usually are not the party animals that wasps are. During spring and late fall, the dispersion of baby spiders is crazy. They drift through the air on little silk cords until they land.
